Hidden Scars: Tu-2's Journey to Guatemala, 1989

In his journey to Guatemala, Tu-2 was the cinematographer as part of a team producing a documentary film about the survival of a political prisoner and torture victicm. The goal of the team was to deliver news to the man's family that he had not been killed and images shot were
people and places along the way to bringing happy news.

We arrived this beautiful town called Salama, three hours north of Guatemala City in early afternoon. While we took a break at this court yard in front of town church I saw this intricate woman surrounded by her grandchildren under the shade of a big tree, watching kids playing soccer. Grace Barne, the director asked her in spanish that if we could share the shade with her. She nodded her head with gentle smile. At that moment I smiled back and hinted if I could take a picture of her and she nodded. Afterward Grace asked her" how old is she"? One of her grandchild answered "106 years old"
